Sanremo D8 & D8 Pro: The New Standard for Entry-Level Espresso Machines

If you’re in the market for a new commercial espresso machine that combines consistency, control, and sleek design – all at a competitive price point – the Sanremo D8 might be exactly what you’re looking for.

In the video below, we're walking you through the new Sanremo D8 Pro, highlighting the key features, differences between the D8 and D8 Pro, and why this machine could be the perfect fit for your café, restaurant, or hospitality venue.

What Is the Sanremo D8?

The D8 is Sanremo’s newest espresso machine, designed to bring the entry level end of their espresso machine lineup up to modern standards. First introduced at London Coffee Festival 2024, it’s already gaining attention for delivering premium performance in a more accessible package.

The machine is available in 2-group and 3-group versions, with a choice of standard or tall cup configuration. It also comes in a range of finishes, from all black and all white to copper and champagne tones – ideal if you’re after a stylish bar setup.

D8 vs D8 Pro – What’s the Difference?

Under the hood, both models share the same single boiler system and build quality. But the D8 Pro comes with a few key extras designed for baristas who want a little more control and ease of use:

  • Cool-touch steam wands as standard
  • LED lighting under the group heads
  • Enhanced group head display, showing temperature, shot time, and flow volume
  • Individual temperature control per group (Pro only – standard D8 sets temperature globally)

You can view the different models as the base model vs the fully specced version - they are the same machine underneath, with the Pro featuring all of the optional extras. These additions make the Pro version a solid choice for sites looking to run multiple coffees or improve workflow without upgrading to a full multi-boiler setup.

Temperature Stability and Brewing Control

One of the standout features of the D8 is its clever approach to temperature stability. While it's a single boiler machine, it includes individual heating elements in each group head, delivering precise, consistent temperature at the point of extraction.

The Pro version takes it a step further, letting you program each group to a different temperature – perfect if you serve a mix of blends and single origins with different roast profiles.

You also get programmable volumetric dosing, pre-infusion settings, and a handy purge button for cleaning the group head without resetting the shot timer – all designed to keep quality high and workflow smooth.

Powerful Steaming, Easy Cleaning

The D8’s steam power is fully customisable, with pressure settings from 1 to 1.5 bar. For a single boiler machine, it's steam performance is solid - it actually took our team quite a bit of getting used to with how powerful the steam is, before we adjusted the pressure down to 1 Bar.

Cool-touch, non-stick steam wands come as standard on the Pro, and the plastic steam tips help prevent milk residue from sticking – ideal for reducing cleaning time and keeping hygiene standards high during service.

Hot Water Tap and Eco Mode

Another thoughtful feature is the programmable hot water tap, which mixes hot and cold water for a steady, splash-free flow. It’s dose-based too, so you can set the perfect amount for your cups or teapots.

An eco mode also kicks in when the machine is idle, helping you save energy between rush periods – and on the Pro version, you can even customise how quickly it enters eco mode.

Who is the D8 For?

If your café is doing up to around 400–500 cups per day, the D8 or D8 Pro will give you all the performance you need – consistent coffee, excellent milk steaming, and a simple user interface that’s easy to train staff on.

It's obviously a traditional espresso machine, so it will need to be operated by staff that know what they're doing.

For higher-volume sites or those wanting full multi-boiler performance, you may want to step up to something like the Sanremo F18 Multi-Boiler – but for small to mid-sized cafés, the D8 is hard to beat.
