Introducing Squire's Garden Gentres

Founded in 1936, Squire’s Garden Centres is a family-owned group that has grown from a small local business into one of the UK’s leading names in horticultural retail.

With 17 locations across the South East of England, each centre is designed as a true community destination, offering far more than plants and gardening essentials.

Cafés and restaurants sit at the heart of the Squire’s experience, creating welcoming spaces where visitors can meet, relax, and stay a little longer.

As part of their continued focus on guest experience, Squire’s has been investing in food and drink as a core part of what makes their centres so enjoyable, with coffee playing an increasingly important role across the group.

The Coffee Project

Squire’s Garden Centres partnered with Bridge Coffee Roasters to help elevate their coffee offering across the group. With a clear ambition to serve consistently high-quality drinks alongside their refreshed café spaces, the focus was on transforming every part of the coffee experience, from the blend in the cup to the training and support behind the counter.

To kickstart the project, we partnered with Squire's to develop a custom coffee blend, roasted and selected specifically for Squire’s guests, before working closely with their teams through hands-on barista training, upgraded equipment, and ongoing operational support designed to meet the needs of a busy, multi-site hospitality environment.

New Café Overhaul

At the Hare Hatch site, the transformation went even further.

As part of a complete café and restaurant redesign, Bridge supplied two new Sanremo D8 espresso machines, supporting the upgrade with Anfim Luna espresso grinders, barista training, and full technical backup.

Barista Training and Support

Bridge Coffee Roasters works closely with Squire’s to support café teams across their locations with practical barista training and ongoing assistance. Training focuses on helping staff produce consistent, high-quality coffee in busy service environments, covering everything from espresso setup to milk technique and workflow.

Squire’s also receives continued technical support, with servicing and engineering help available when needed to keep equipment performing well and minimise disruption across sites.

The Results?

With upgraded equipment, specialty coffee, and continued training in place, Squire’s is already seeing the impact of a stronger coffee experience across its centres.

This year alone, the group is on track to serve over one million hot drinks across its 17 locations, a clear reflection of how central food and drink has become within the garden centre visit.

More importantly, coffee is now helping Squire’s cafés deliver on their wider aim: creating warm, comfortable spaces where visitors can meet, relax, and stay longer, turning each garden centre into a true destination.
